Sara Baras / Carmen Linares

On Friday 19 the airs of flamenco will come to Pirineos Sur, with concerts by Carmen Linares and Sara Baras. The former is recognised as a living legend of flamenco, on a par with Camarón, Paco de Lucía, Enrique Morente, Manolo Sanlúcar, José Mercé and Tomatito. She began her solo career in 1980 with Juan and Pepe Habichuela, and in the 1990s she made a name for herself with excellent records and crowned herself with one of the best albums in the history of flamenco: ‘Antología de la Mujer’ (1996). Her recordings include more than 30 titles, including her own albums and collaborations. Throughout her career she has won around twenty major awards, including the 2001 National Music Prize, the 2006 Medal of Fine Arts and, in particular, the 2022 Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts and the 2023 Latin Grammy Award.
